India’s Ambassador-designate to Madagascar Abhay Kumar meets President Kovind

New Delhi [India], Mar 11 (ANI): India's Ambassador-designate to Madagascar Abhay Kumar on Monday met President Ram Nath Kovind before taking up his new assignment.

New Delhi [India], Mar 11 (ANI): India's Ambassador-designate to Madagascar Abhay Kumar on Monday met President Ram Nath Kovind before taking up his new assignment. 
“In separate engagements, President Kovind met Shri Abhay Kumar, India's Ambassador-designate to Madagascar; and Dr Y.C. Simhadri, former Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, Banaras Hindu University and Patna University” read a tweet posted from the President's official account. 
A native of Bihar's Nalanda, Kumar joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2003 after studying Geography at Kirorimal College, Delhi University and at Jawaharlal University.
Kumar had earlier served in Russia, Nepal and, Brazil in various diplomatic capacities. He is also a well-known poet and has authored seven poetry collections and edited four poetry anthologies.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, Kumar was designated as India's Ambassador to Madagascar on November 9, 2018.
Kumar was earlier serving as the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) at the Indian Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil. (ANI)
