Indian Railways utilises 59 pc of budget in first half of financial year

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Saturday that Rs 1.4 lakh crore has been effectively utilized from the allocated budget of Rs 2.40 lakh crore for the current financial year, resulting in the utilization of 59 per cent of the allocated funds.

New Delhi [India], October 1 (ANI): Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Saturday that Rs 1.4 lakh crore has been effectively utilized from the allocated budget of Rs 2.40 lakh crore for the current financial year, resulting in the utilization of 59 per cent of the allocated funds.
"As part of enhancing efficiency and streamlining operations, the Indian Railways has successfully implemented 12 structural reforms," Vaishnaw informed adding that these strategic changes have paved a pivotal role in ensuring smoother operations and optimizing resource utilization, thereby accelerating the progress of railway projects.
"To further streamline operations and resolve conflicts at the Detailed Project Report (DPR) level, the railway authorities are actively engaged in addressing potential roadblocks. The entire project management process has been successfully computerized, heralding a new era of technological advancement and efficiency within the Indian Railways," an official statement said. 
It is also notable that in an innovative approach to bolster the workforce and expedite railway projects, the Indian Railways has enlisted the expertise of retired officers from diverse fields. This move has added a unique dimension to the railway workforce, bringing in specialized skills and experience to ensure the hassle-free execution of projects.
With a strong focus on optimizing the use of resources and employing strategic reforms, the Indian Railways is set to sustain this momentum, effectively contributing to the growth and modernization of the railway network across the nation, the statement said. (ANI)
