New Delhi [India], May 14 (ANI): The Indian Navy for the first time will conduct an Indian Naval Entrance Test (INET) which is scheduled in September 2019 at various centres across the country. "INET will be held to induct officers for Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission Officer candidates," said a Defence Ministry statement.
Currently, the candidates are shortlisted through UPSC or the University Entry Scheme and then undergo an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). Now, the short-listing for SSB will be based on the performance in computer-based INET (officers) and entry preference.
INET (Officers) will have four sections -- English, Reasoning and Numerical Ability, General Science, Mathematical Aptitude, and General Knowledge. Candidates need to pass each section of INET (Officers) to be considered for SSB call letters. Final merit list will be drawn on the basis of a candidate's performance marks in INET (Officers), SSB and subsequent Medical Examination, said the ministry. The selected candidates will undergo basic training at the Indian Naval Academy.
According to the statement, under the new process, the advertisement will be published every six months and applicants can opt for various entries based on their educational qualification. Details of entries, age, educational qualifications, and other eligibilities are available on www.joinindiannavy.gov.in. Candidates can register on the website and fill their personal, communication and educational particulars, as well as upload their supporting documents. (ANI)
