Indian Coast Guard rescues fisherman drowning off Kutch coast
The operation was carried out by an ICG Interceptor Boat C-437 on Tuesday. The fisherman, named Sanjay Giga, drowned in the sea, around 22 km from Jakhau, Gujarat.

New Delhi [India], May 8 (ANI): The Indian Coast Guard carried out a swift operation and rescued a fisherman from drowning in the sea, near the Kutch coast, a press release said on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out by an ICG Interceptor Boat C-437 on Tuesday. The fisherman, named Sanjay Giga, drowned in the sea, around 22 km from Jakhau, Gujarat.
The ship, while on area surveillance off the Kutch coast, received the alert from the fishing boat Marwa. 
The ICG ship diverted and expeditiously reached the spot where the victim was located. He was swiftly recovered in an unconscious state.
The fisherman was administered first aid and then taken to Jakhau Harbour where treatment was given by Station Medical Officer.
The fisherman is presently admitted to the Community Health Centre, Naliya and is reported in healthy condition now.
This incident comes on the heels of another similar operation. On May 1, ICG ship had evacuated one critically injured crew from Fishing Boat St Francis, 130 kms into the sea west of Veraval, Gujarat.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian Coast Guard conducted a medical evacuation of a Tamil Nadu fisherman from Kerala's Beypore coast.
The fisherman, identified as Ajin, aged 26, hailing from Tamil Nadu's Kolachal, was rescued from IFB Jazeera 40 nm off Beypore, an official statement of the Coast Guard said. (ANI)
