Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 20 (ANI): After BJP witnessed defeat in Uttar Pradesh's Faizabad constituency in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam said that victory and defeat are inevitable and asserted that India needs Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make it a 'Vishwaguru.'
Speaking with ANI, Krishnam said, "... In a democracy, victory and defeat keep happening but Ayodhya has never lost because if Ayodhya loses, Sanatana Dharma will lose and that can't happen."
On Modi's third stint as Prime Minister, Krishnam said, "People chose PM Modi as Prime Minister for the third time. This is historic as well as a proud moment. The country needs PM Modi to make it a 'Vishwaguru' (global leader). And I feel that if Modi had not become PM for the third time, India would have scattered."
Praising PM Modi for doing the 'Pran Pratishtha', Krishnam said, "Any political party winning or losing is a different thing but PM Modi did 'Pran Pratishtha' of Ram temple and this has been written in the history of India and Sanatana Dharma in golden letters, and nobody can erase this. As far as the cultural and religious viewpoint is concerned, Ayodhya from a religious viewpoint has emerged top in religious tourism."
The 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Lord Ram was held on January 22, with the main rituals performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The idol of Ram Lalla was unveiled after the rituals.
Notably, the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the Lok Sabha elections won 37 seats, the BJP won 33, Congress won six, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) won two, and Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) and Apna Dal (Soneylal) won one seat each in Uttar Pradesh.
In a major setback to the BJP, it gained only 33 seats against 63 in the 2019 LS polls, with the vote share being 41.37 per cent. Some of the most-watched seats that the BJP lost include -- Faizabad (Ayodhya), Amethi, and Raebareli.
SP's Awadhesh Prasad secured victory against BJP's Lallu Singh in Faizabad with a margin of 54,567 votes. Prasad garnered 554289 votes while Singh secured 4,99,722 votes. (ANI)
