New Delhi [India], Dec 12 (ANI): India on Thursday condemned the terror attack in Nigeria which claimed the lives of over 71 soldiers.
Ministry of External Affairs in a statement said, "India condemns the terrorist attack in the western region of Niger on December 10, 2019, where more than 70 have been killed and many injured."
Extending "deepest condolences to the families of victims and to the people and Government of Niger", the MEA said, "India stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Niger in the fight against terrorism. India has always opposed and rejected terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and has urged concerted action by the international community against terrorism, including cross-border terrorism."
At least 71 Nigerien soldiers have been killed in a terrorist attack on a military camp in Inates, according to the defence ministry.
In a televised statement, a ministry spokesman said "a substantial number of terrorists were neutralized" in Tuesday's attack which also left 12 military personnel wounded and others missing, reported Al Jazeera.
President Mahamadou Issoufou cut short a trip to Egypt following the tragedy in Inates near the border with Mali. (ANI)
