Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], August 21 (ANI): Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravneet Singh Bittu said on Tuesday that the party has taken a big decision by naming him as the Rajya Sabha candidate from Rajasthan.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday in Jaipur, Bittu further said that he was indebted to Rajasthan and would serve the state with "dignity and pride."
"I am indebted to Rajasthan. One thing I would say is that the party has taken a big decision. The chance that I have got, I'll serve Rajasthan with dignity and pride," the BJP leader said.
Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday announced nine candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-elections. Bittu lost the Lok Sabha polls from Ludhiana but is presently the Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries.
Following the announcement, Bittu called on Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma at the latter's residence in Jaipur. The Chief Minister congratulated Bittu for the candidature and wished him success.

During the meeting, CM Sharma discussed upcoming action plans for the development of Rajasthan with the MoS. Rajya Sabha MP and State Incharge Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal, BJP State President Madan Rathore and Law Minister Jogaram Patel were also present during the meeting.

The by-elections to 12 Rajya Sabha seats are scheduled to be held on September 3. Most of these seats were vacated after sitting MPs were elected to the lower house. (ANI)
