IMD predicts rain at many places in South Tamil Nadu for three days from today

Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places in South Tamil Nadu and a few places in North Tamil Nadu for three consecutive days starting today (Friday), said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], December 15 (ANI): Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places in South Tamil Nadu and a few places in North Tamil Nadu for three consecutive days starting today (Friday), said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
"Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean in the lower tropospheric levels and its likely westward movement, light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places over South Tamil Nadu and a few places over North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal during three days (15-17 December 2023)," said IMD
"Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely over south Tamil Nadu and delta districts on December 16 and 17. Isolated heavy rain is also likely along the south coastal and adjoining delta areas on December 15 and 18, 2023," IMD added.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall was witnessed in several parts of Chennai on Friday. For next 48 hours Chennai Skies are likely to be generally cloudy. Moderate rain is likely to occur in some areas. Temperature is likely to be 24-26°C.
The IMD also said that Light to moderate rain at many places South Tamilnadu, at a few places over north Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Karaikal with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai districts of Tamilnadu on December 16.
On the same day, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai, and Sivagangai districts of Tamilnadu. Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Madurai, Mayiladuthurai, Virudhunagar and Karaikal area.
On December 17, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and Karaikal.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Villupuram, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Sivagangai, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Karur, Theni, Dindigul districts of Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, said IMD.
Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and Karaikal area.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Villupuram, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Sivagangai, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Karur, Theni, Dindigul districts of Tamilnadu and Puducherry.
On December 18, Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai and Thanjavur districts of Tamilnadu.
On December 19 heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram districts of Tamilnadu.
On December 19, Thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal area. (ANI)
