Illustrious Alumnus empowers students of his Alma Mater Hindu College with scholarship

Raj Bhargava (IAS retd) former Chief Secretary of Home Affairs, Government of India, has once again returned to his alma mater with a corpus fund of Rs 2 crores for his scholarship foundation to be given to students of Social Sciences at the undergraduate level.

New Delhi [India], August 8 (ANI): Raj Bhargava (IAS retd) former Chief Secretary of Home Affairs, Government of India, has once again returned to his alma mater with a corpus fund of Rs 2 crores for his scholarship foundation to be given to students of Social Sciences at the undergraduate level.
His return to the college has brought inspiration and has opened up new avenues of growth and development for the students and the institution.
Equipped with extensive knowledge and a clear vision for Hindu College’s progress, he has devoted himself to nurturing the hidden talents among young minds. Thus, creating a platform for their growth and development.

The Raj Bhargava Foundation Scholarship (RBFS) for the academic year 2023-24 is continuing in its second year, marking a significant milestone in its success. This year a total of 150 students applied for the RBFS, out of which 105 appeared for the written Merit Assessment Test (MAT).
Out of this group, 18 students were shortlisted from History Department and 18 from other Social Sciences subjects for an Interactive Session with the Selection Committee having College alumni as experts. From the 36 students, 8 were selected who had the privilege of interacting with Raj Bhargava himself.

This year, the college has been fortunate to double the number of recipients, awarding four scholarships along with a special prize. Preetam Singh and Yash Asati emerged as winners from the History department, while Ananya Mishra and Pratham Gupta secured scholarships from the other social science combined subjects. These four students have received a cheque of seventy-five thousand rupees each.
Additionally, Mrinav Murari Mazumder received a Special Prize (One-time) to pursue his passion for music along with his studies on the recommendation of Raj Bhargava himself. In addition, three more students have been awarded laptops in recognition of their outstanding performance. All these students are studying in their first-year second semester.

Prof. Anju Srivastava, the Principal of the College, expressed her appreciation for Shri Raj Bhargava Ji, who actively contributes to students' inclusive growth and holistic development through foundation scholarships. She mentioned that he is always enthusiastic about ensuring a bright future for our students and generously supports the college, demonstrating his deep commitment to his alma mater.
The scholarships are renewable, motivating students to excel in an environment of opportunities and contributing to the development of a well-rounded personality. As elucidated by the generous donor himself, the primary objective is to identify and nurture the right talent, thereby upholding the spirit of academic excellence in the institution. (ANI)
