IJA condemns manhandling of members by Pak backed elements in London

New Delhi [India], Apr. 19 (ANI): Indian Journalists' Association (IJA) has condemned the "intimidation and manhandling" of its members by "political protesters" in central London on Wednesday.

The condemnation is in reference to Pakistan-backed PoK and Khalistani elements who burnt the Indian flag in central London yesterday.

The incident took place at Parliament Square when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was addressing the Indian community at Westminster on Wednesday.

"Indian Journalists' Association's constitution obliges the organisation to defend the right of our members to freely discharge their professional duties," the association said in a statement issued on Thursday.

"Therefore, IJA strongly condemns the threats and violence faced by concerned members from anti-India demonstrators," the statement further read.

The IJA also urged the British police "to book wrongdoers upon receiving any complaint on the matter from our members."

Reportedly, the London Metropolitan Police turned a blind eye when the Indian flag was pulled down from a pole and replaced by a flag representing PoK and Khalistan. (ANI)
