Bhagalpur (Bihar) [India], Oct 18 (ANI): In a high profile case of theft, Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Raveesh Kumar’s ancestral house in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district was burgled on Tuesday night.
Kumar is currently serving as official spokesperson of  Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
The burglars apparently took away ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh, a TV set and few branded shirt, said the officer’s father Raghu Nayak Bhagat.
“The incident happened on Tuesday. I was in Delhi with my sons. When I returned home after a morning walk, I got a call from the caretaker (of the ancestral house), informing that the main lock was broken. He  had the keys for main gate only and not of the house. After receiving the information from the caretaker, I called my nephew to rush to the spot. He informed police following which FIR was registered” Bhagat told ANI.
“In the FIR he had to give details of the things we had in the house. According to  my wife there were ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh. The television set is also not here. There were branded shirts from Germany, which I got when I went to meet my son there. They were in a suitcase,” he added.
The family has been residing in the house since 2004. “These types of incidents happen here, but not in this big manner,” Bhagat said.
“There are four bedrooms. Locks of all the bedrooms are broken. One Godrej almirah locker is also broken. Locks of all other almirahs are also broken. The Superintendent of Police has assured that they will recover all our belongings,” he further explained.
Investigating Officer Ajay Sharma said: “We have searched the place and have questioned a few people. We haven’t got a clue as yet. Photographs and fingerprints have been taken. Further investigation in the case is underway." (ANI)
