"If you cannot defeat us, you seek to delete us," CM MK Stalin amid protest against SIR exercise in Bihar

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 25 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin alleged that Special Intensive Revision is being misused to quietly "erase" voters from disadvantaged and dissenting communities as both Houses of the Parliament were adjourned till Monday after uproar over the exercise in the poll-bound Bihar.

"The Special Intensive Revision (#SIR) is being misused to quietly erase voters from disadvantaged and dissenting communities, tilting the balance in favour of the BJP. This is not about reform. It is about engineering outcomes. What happened in Bihar says it all: the Delhi regime knows the same electorate that once voted for it will now vote it out. That is why it is trying to stop them from voting altogether. If you cannot defeat us, you seek to delete us. Don't play with fire. Any threat to our democracy will be met with firm resistance," Stalin said in a post on X.
Stalin noted that people represent the democracy and vowed to "fight this injustice with every democratic weapon".
"Tamil Nadu will raise its voice with full force. We will fight this injustice with every democratic weapon at our disposal. To every citizen who believes in the Constitution: this is not just about one state, this is about the very foundation of our Republic. Democracy belongs to the people. It will not be stolen," he added.
Stalin's remarks come amid a political row over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of voter lists in Bihar, with the opposition INDIA bloc alleging it is a move to delete a large section of voters.

Earlier today, several opposition parliamentarians in the Rajya Sabha moved Suspension of Business notices, urging a discussion on the SIR during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury moved a notice under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha on Friday morning, demanding the suspension of house business to discuss the SIR exercise being carried out by the Election Commission (EC) in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh submitted a notice demanding a detailed discussion on the SIR process in Bihar, highlighting concerns over the voter list revision.
Similarly, Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan, Ashok Singh, Neeraj Dangi and Rajani Patil also gave notices under Rule 267, pressing for an immediate dialogue on the same issue.
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned today amid sloganeering by Opposition members.
The Parliament has witnessed frequent adjournments for the last four days since it began on July 21. (ANI)
