IAF mountaineering team achieves 'Seven Summit' goal

New Delhi [India], Jan 11 (ANI): Indian Air Force adventure team has achieved the goal of climbing the highest mountains in seven continents of the world.

The IAF team was successful in implanting the tricolour and the IAF flag on Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt. Vinson in Antarctica, Mt. Puncak Jaya in Australia, Mt. Everest in Eurasia, Mt. Denali in North America, Mt. Mauna Kea in Pacific, Mt. Aconcagua in South America.

These peaks were scaled by a five member mountaineering team led by Gp Capt RC Tripathi is the first organisation in India to achieve this unique feat.

The IAF has promoted adventure activities among its personnel. In 2011, a women's expedition scaled Mt Everest successfully and in 2017 a joint IAF-BSF women camel expedition covered 1386 Km distance along western border in 47 days. IAF is also committed to the cause of environment and in Sep this year, IAF expedition to Mt Stok Kangri, restored the environment at base camp. (ANI)
