"I thank PM Modi for extending relief and support...": AP BJP spokesperson Lanka Dinakar

Lanka Dinakar, Andhra Pradesh BJP spokesperson has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union government for extending swift support and immediate relief of Rs 3,300 crore for the flood-affected areas in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 7 (ANI): Lanka Dinakar, Andhra Pradesh BJP spokesperson, has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union government for extending swift support and immediate relief of Rs 3,300 crore for the flood-affected areas in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
"I would like to thank the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Union government for extending support for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by providing immediate relief of Rs 3,300 crores, and it is going to be released in the next few hours," said Dinakar.
He further mentioned the telephonic conversation between PM Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to get stock of the flood situation in Vijayawada and other affected districts.
"Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Amit Shah ji made a phone call to the CM Chandrababu Naidu to get the information in Vijaywada...Immediately they sent NDRF as well as aeroplanes to render service to the needed people", he added.
Earlier on Friday, the Indian Navy's relief and rescue operations in flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh continued under the eaegis of Eastern Naval Command. Naval helicopters undertook extensive flying operations, such as airdropping food packets, medical kits and water bottles to stranded individuals.
He further added that he welcomes Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visiting the areas, which led to the government providing immediate assistance. "Whatever the Union government has provided, I welcome and I congratulate the Union Government. Soon after a visit by Chouhan ji, Agriculture Minister, whatever he examined and whatever the information he had given, immediately the union government responded and provided this assistance, I am very thankful on behalf of BJP", he added.
On Friday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan continued his two day inspection of the flood-affected areas.
The Union Minister highlighted the damage to the crops which has happened due to the floods. "I saw the agricultural fields of my farmer brothers and assessed the damage. Farmers' crops have been fully damaged. There is a 100% loss to Banana, Haldi, Paddy and vegetable crops. Many of the farmers don't own their own farmland and do farming by borrowing land on lease, but they have lost their crops," the minister said while speaking to reporters after the inspection.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who reviewed the situation at the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority, also added that protecting lives and property is a top priority. (ANI)
