"I respect govt's findings that this was a terrorist attack": Shashi Tharoor on Delhi blast

New Delhi [India], November 13 (ANI): Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said on Thursday that the Delhi blast incident "cannot go unpunished," backing the Central government's stand that it was a terror attack and stressing the need to protect citizens' security in the coming weeks.
Speaking to ANI, Tharoor urged political unity on national security, emphasising that public safety in the aftermath of the blast must be the main focus.
"A terror attack cannot go unpunished. The government has said that they will hunt down the perpetrators. What is extremely important is protecting the safety and security of our citizens in the weeks and months to come. Jaish-e-Mohammed was a legitimate target during Operation Sindoor. Terrorists have no impunity and protection from those who want to protect civilian lives," he said.
Urging political unity on national security, Tharoor said, "I respect the government's finding that this was a terrorist attack. It is important that we stand united on this issue."
Tharoor's remarks came a day after the Centre confirmed that the explosion was a terrorist attack. Security agencies, including the NIA and Delhi Police's Special Cell, conducted a multi-agency investigation, while several states have issued high alerts.
Meanwhile, another person, who was among the injured in the Red Fort car explosion that shook the national capital on Monday, succumbed to his injuries at the LNJP Hospital here, according to the sources.
According to the sources, 34-year-old Bilal succumbed on Thursday after 70 per cent burn injuries.
"34-year-old Bilal was continuously on a ventilator, he got 70 % burn injuries, critical injuries on the chest and Abdominal injuries," said the sources.
However, a detailed investigation is underway at the site of the car blast with personnel from the Delhi Police and other central agencies jointly conducting the probe on Thursday.
The area has been cordoned off, and forensic teams are examining the remnants of the vehicle to determine the cause and nature of the explosion.
On November 10, a car explosion near the Red Fort complex in the national capital killed 12 and left several injured. (ANI)
