Agra (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 13 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman has addressed the protest by Karni Sena, which involved a memorandum being submitted to a local MLA instead of directly going to him.
He reiterated that he had already communicated his stance on the Rana Sanga controversy numerous times, and he couldn't understand why people were creating unnecessary issues. "I have said what I wanted to say 100 times now. I don't understand why people are saying unnecessary things," he said.
"They gave a memorandum to the local MLA, not to me. I don't know what they did and what they didn't. I don't know what they are doing," he added.
He further explained that the demands made by Karni Sena, such as renaming the Jewar Airport after Rana Sanga and calling for the withdrawal of his Rajya Sabha membership, were directed at the Prime Minister and Chief Minister, not him.
"The demands were to the PM and the CM that the Jewar Airport should be named after Rana Sanga and my Rajya Sabha membership should be withdrawn. The demands were related to the PM and the CM; it would have been better if they had given the memorandum to them," he said.
Ramji Lal Suman has sparked controversy with his statement on Rana Sanga, a 16th-century Rajput king. He called him a "traitor" for allegedly bringing Babur, the founder of the Mughal dynasty, to defeat Ibrahim Lodi.
On March 26, violence erupted outside the residence of SP MP Suman in Agra. Unidentified individuals resorted to pelting stones, breaking window panes and vandalising vehicles parked outside. (ANI)
