Kodagu (Karnataka) [India], October 29 (ANI): A woman was arrested for allegedly killing her husband with the assistance of two other accomplices for financial gains in Karnataka, the police said.
The victim has been identified as Ramesh Kumar (54), a real-estate businessman from Telangana.
As per allegations, the accused Niharika killed her husband to take over Rs 8 crore worth of assets of her husband. She committed the crime with the help of her paramour and a friend, both identified as Ankur and Nikhil respectively.
All three have been arrested by the police.
According to the police, after committing the murder, the accused and her accomplices drove to a coffee estate in Suntikoppa in Kodagu district with the body and set it on fire.
On October 8, the half-decomposed body of the victim was found in Panya Estate near Suntikoppa, after which four special teams of 16 officers were formed to pursue leads in the matter.
Kodagu police got in touch with their counterparts in Telangana and gathered information about Ramesh Kumar's personal life.
During the course of their investigation, police suspected the role of his wife Niharika, 29, and questioned her.
On subsequent investigation, the police discovered that the accused strangulated Ramesh to death in Uppal, Hyderabad and then drove in the victim's car to Bengaluru before proceeding to Kodagu to dispose of the body. Later, Niharika returned to Hyderabad and lodged a missing complaint about her husband, the police stated.
The Kodagu police, who arrested Niharika and Nikhil on October 22, managed to take Ankur Rana into custody from Haridwar in Uttarakhand. (ANI)
