Speaking to ANI, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Anil Kumar in Hyderabad said: "More than one lakh autos are plying and in the past, we had some incidents in which Auto drivers were involved, so we have started a new initiative named My Auto is Safe. The main purpose to start the initiative is the commuters or passengers of auto should feel the sense of safety and security."
He added that the auto drivers will be given plates which will be displayed at the front, rare side and beside the auto driver, so that the passengers commuting in the auto could see the details of the auto driver. The police helpline numbers will be displayed  on the plates, enabling passengers to contact cops at the time of emergency.
"This initiative makes us trace the auto where ever it is because we will be collecting all details including phone numbers of the auto drivers, owners and all the documents of them," Kumar said.
Hyderabad Police further said that the auto drivers and their owners are coming forward to register themselves with the campaign. So far more than 17,000 autos have been registered with Hyderabad Police in the last 15 days. (ANI)
