Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 2 (ANI): The Commissioner's Task Force (CTF) of the South West Zone of Hyderabad Police in Telangana on Wednesday claimed to have nabbed four interstate drug peddlers in separate operations and seized contraband worth Rs 30 lakh.
At Habeeb Nagar Police Station, officials arrested Syed Abdullah (32), a resident of Mallepally, Hyderabad, who is involved in the artificial jewellery business, Anas Ahmed Shaikh (24), a senior associate at a BPO from Govandi, Mumbai; and Irfan Raju Shaikh (20), a hotel management student from Dharave, Maharashtra.
The police also seized 144.72 grams of OG weed Ganja and four mobile phones.
The seized narcotics are valued at Rs 8 lakh, while the mobile phones are worth Rs 2 lakh, bringing the total to Rs 10 lakh.
According to the police, Anas Ahmed Shaikh and Irfan Raju Shaikh, both from Maharashtra, were working with a main peddler named Farhan. They supplied organic ganja in Maharashtra. Syed Abdullah, addicted to ganja, approached Anas to purchase the drug, planning to sell part of it at a higher price.
On September 30, Anas and Irfan arrived in Hyderabad to deliver the marijuana to Abdullah near Ravindra Bharathi School. Acting on credible information, the South West Zone Task Force and Habeeb Nagar police apprehended the suspects with the drugs.
In a separate operation at Asif Nagar Police Station, authorities seized two kilogrammes of weed/hash oil and one mobile phone from Hantal Gobardhan, alias Govardhan (32), a farmer from Malkangiri, Odisha. The hash oil has an estimated value of Rs 20 lakh, bringing the total seized in this case to Rs 20 lakh.
Gobardhan had worked for Manoj, a major supplier of ganja and hash oil, for five years. Following Manoj's orders, Gobardhan was tasked with delivering two kilogrammes of hash oil to a customer in Hyderabad.
On his way to Sai Baba Temple in Gudimalkapur, Gobardhan was stopped during a vehicle check by the CTF and Asif Nagar police, where the hash oil was discovered.
Following the operation, Vijay Srinivas, ACP of Asif Nagar, said, "On a tip-off, the Task Force Southwest Zone, along with Habeeb Nagar police, took custody of two persons: Syed Abdullah, Anas Ahmed, and Irfan Raju Sheikh. They used to meet Syed Abdullah, who is addicted to ganja. OGB is a ganja product that is only available in coastal areas and is very costly, approximately Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 per gram.
"In another case, we apprehended Hantal Gobardhan, a native of Malkangiri district, Odisha. Near Gudimalkapur Sai Baba temple, we found two kilograms of hash oil worth about Rs 20 lakh. Further inquiries are ongoing to break the chain of custody," he added.
The police have assured that they will continue their investigation to uncover the larger network involved in drug trafficking in the region.(ANI)
