Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Apr 22 (ANI): Nine people were arrested for looting a jeweller and around 11kg of silver has been recovered from their possession, Hyderabad Police said on Monday.
The prime accused has been identified as one Nizam. He, along with his associates, including a juvenile boy, hatched a plan to loot the jeweller, Azhar.
According to the police, the criminals were aware that the jeweller used to take the entire jewellery home at night.
Nizam formed three teams to loot Azhar when he returned after closing his shop in the night. He discussed the plan with his friends Asif, Mukkaram, Amjad, Javeed and Khaled. As they agreed to take part in the loot, he formed three teams.
The first team comprised Nizam and Mukkaram, the second team comprised Javeed and Amjad and the third team consisted of Asif and Khaled.
The third team was entrusted to snatch the jewellery bag of Azhar at any cost. The juvenile was tasked with passing on the information to Nizam about Azhar's movement.
As per their plan, the teams kept watch of Azhar on three different routes.
In the intervening night of April 17 and 18, the juvenile informed Nizam that Azhar was with the jewellery bag. Nizam informed Asif and Khaled about the same. Asif and Khaled followed Azhar and waited till they reached nearby Jagannatha Swamy temple.
They came from behind Azhar's bike, overtook and stopped it. Asif tried to snatch the jewellery bag from Azhar but he resisted. Asif punched the victim's face while Khaled sprinkled chilli powder on Azhar and his associate. After a brief scuffle the accused snatched the bag and decamped with the silver jewellery, the police said.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said, "The sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, Hyderabad, along with Shahalibanda Police apprehended nine-member dacoit gang that committed theft of silver ornaments from a jeweller on the intervening night of April 17 and 18 and recovered entire stolen property 11 kg silver."
In another case, Hyderabad Task Force police nabbed one habitual offender and seized 90 grams of gold. (ANI)
