HP Polls: BJP will win with ¾ majority, says JP Nadda

Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], Nov 9 (ANI): Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Thursday asserted that it is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which will make the next government in the state.

"I can see that BJP is going to make party from a margin of 3/4th. People want to free themselves from the corrupt government of Virbhadra Singh," JP Nadda told ANI.

"People want Prem Kumar Dhuman's progressive government. There was so much corruption in the past five years that people were fed up, and if HP wants to progress then BJP government has to come in power," he added.

The voting for the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh began on Thursday morning, wherein 338 candidates are contesting across 68 seats in the hilly state.

Congress Party's Virbhadra Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party's Prem Kumar Dhumal are the Chief Ministerial candidates in the two-cornered battle.

While Singh is the current Chief Minister of the state, Dhumal has served the post twice before. Both of them have shifted their constituencies and are contesting from Arki and Sujanpur.

This election will play a decisive factor for Singh, the longest-serving Chief Minister, who will serve a seventh term in the Legislative assembly if stands victorious.

If results come in favour of the Congress, it will be a huge morale booster for the party which has registered a decline in its vote share across the country since 2014 General elections.

The results of the polling will be announced after 40 days, on December 18. (ANI)
