Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 5 (ANI): Union Minister Meenakashi Lekhi on Sunday took a hit at the Congress government and said that the ruling party in the state always tries to find the scope for corruption in any budget and alleged that the party did not distribute any funds to the people for development.
Union Minister Lekhi was addressing a party campaign for BJP Candidate Suresh Kashyap from the Shimla Parliament constituency.
"For a Viksit Bharat by 2047, there is a need to bring the BJP into power. The Congress party always tries to find out the corruption of scope in any budget. The Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has not distributed the funds to the people for development," she said.
The Union Minister said that before 2014 the annual budget provided to the state was 771 crore rupees, adding that now Himachal gets an annual budget of 10,000 crore rupees from the Union government.
"Your government here is saying they don't have money. You used to receive 771 crore rupees for the state before 2014 now you are getting 10,000 crore rupees, and you have nothing done for development," Lekhi said.
Adding further, Lekhi said that Himachal Pradesh needs a planned budget for development and for that, the public will need to elect the BJP government.
"You have seen the development in the country during the past 10 years under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government. India has become a major exporter of mobile phones in recent years. It is all due to your efforts," she said.
Taking a dig at the Congress, Lekhi said that the BJP has come to bring about a change in the society and not loot the country as the Congress party does.
On being asked that for the first time in the assembly bye-poll BJP has given all 6 tickets to sitting Congress MLAs, Meenakashi Lekhi said that all good people from Congress are joining BJP and party workers are welcoming them.
The filing of nominations will begin on May 7, and the last date for filing papers is May 14 in Himachal Pradesh.
The elections to the four Lok Sabha seats of Himachal Pradesh and by-polls to the six assembly constituencies that fell vacant with the disqualification of six rebel Congress MLAs will be held on June 1. (ANI)
