Mysore (Karnataka) [India] August 7 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the notice given by the Governor in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case has "already been answered" and expressed hope that he would accept it.
He said "I am confident that the Governor (Thawar Chand Gehlot) will accept the government's reply as it is by the law. I have not exerted any kind of influence in the allotment of the MUDA site," CM Siddaramaiah told reporters here.
He said that "His wife was allotted an alternative site as per law in 2021 during the BJP government".
"In 2014, when I was the Chief Minister, my wife filed an application seeking an alternative site, as she claimed that MUDA had taken the land illegally from her. But I did not take any action in this regard," he added.
CM Siddaramaiah accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) of levelling allegations against him to weaken the government after their "Operation Kamala" failed.
"BJP and JDS parties are making allegations against me to destabilize the government. Since their failure to destabilize the government through Operation Kamala, they are making such accusations," he alleged.
"Our government has successfully implemented guarantee schemes in the last year and they cannot tolerate us working for the poor," CM added.
He said that the Centre was disappointed with the successful implementation of the guarantee schemes of the Karnataka government.
He further said, "The Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) himself had said that the guarantee schemes cannot be implemented and was speaking against our schemes and schemes will soon stop even though it started. The Prime Minister is disappointed with the successful implementation of the guarantee schemes".
Earlier, a complaint was filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority.
The complaint alleges wrongdoing by Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, his brother-in-law Malikarjuna Swamy Devaraj, who claimed to be a landowner, and his family. It was further alleged that MUDA created fake documents and obtained plots worth crores of rupees. Snehamayi Krishna has raised several questions in his complaint.
The BJP demands that the land given to the CM's family should be returned. The opposition accused Siddaramaiah of usurping the lands that belonged to the Dalit community. (ANI)
