Hockey veteran booked on charges of using fake caste certificate to get job

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Feb 14 (ANI): The Hyderabad police on Wednesday booked triple Olympian and former India hockey team captain Mukesh Kumar for allegedly illegally obtaining a Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Feb 14 (ANI): The Hyderabad police on Wednesday booked triple Olympian and former India hockey team captain Mukesh Kumar for allegedly illegally obtaining a Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate.
Kumar had allegedly obtained a certificate of the Mala community from Trimulgherry Tahasildar office here. He did so to get a job in an Indian Air Lines.

D Rajesh, Circle Inspector of Bowenpally police station said, "Four days ago we received a complaint from Trimulgherry Tahasildar stating that Mukesh Kumar who was former national Hockey player has obtained SC Mala community certificate illegally from Trimulgherry Tahasildar office, as Mukesh is of Backward Class (BC) - A Nayee Brahman community and through the SC certificate he got job in Indian Air Lines Earlier. After inquiry, it was noticed that Mukesh Kumar was not from the SC Mala community."
A case Under Sections 420 and 471 of the IPC has been registered.
Mukesh Kumar is legendary Hockey player and had played 307 international hockey matches and scored about 80 goals. Mukesh had also played in three Olympics 1992 in Barcelona, 1996 in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney.
He was also conferred with Arjuna Award. (ANI)
