Bikaner (Rajasthan) [India], Dec 2 (ANI): With the political temperature soaring in the state of Rajasthan ahead of Assembly elections, hoarding and banner business is on a boom in the Bikaner district.
The business is flourishing exponentially as the campaign for Assembly elections is reaching its pinnacle in the region.
The printing business is also booming as in the election season, owners of large and medium printing facilities get a lot of orders.
Speaking to ANI, one of the hoarding and banner providers from the district, Bhupal said, "During election campaigns, our business gets almost 100 percent more profit as compared to normal days. During normal days we get only a small portion of such work, but during campaign season we earn huge profit. For four days we have not closed the shop as there is so much work. Normally we close the shop on time but now we work through the entire night."
He further said that he gets orders from all the candidates of the different parties due to his shop's old lineage which is there since 1951.
However, not everyone is entirely happy with this surge in business as one of the workers informed that he made to work for large hours owing to more work.
Punam Meghwal, a hoarding maker said, "Demand for hoarding has risen exponentially. During normal days we are not much under pressure of work. However, with elections happening in the state, we have to work for more than 12 hours."
Elections in Rajasthan are being seen as a direct fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. While BJP will look forward to repeating its past performance of 2013, the Congress is in the fight to gain a majority and stake claims for the top chair of the state.
The 200-member Rajasthan Assembly is scheduled to go to polls on December 7 and the counting of votes will take place on December 11. (ANI)
