Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 27 (ANI): After Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated India's fully indigenous 4G stack and one lakh BSNL indigenous 4G towers from Jharsuguda, Odisha, Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia lauded the rollout of 'Swadeshi' 4G Network.
Speaking to reporters, Scindia highlighted that the launch signifies not only a historic day for BSNL but also for the entire nation. He further emphasised that, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, India has successfully developed its own 4G technology.
"It is a historic day not only for BSNL but for the whole nation. Under the leadership of PM Modi, the impossible has become possible as India has invented and developed its own 4G stack..." said Scindia.
The Union Minister stated that with the launch of its own indigenous stack, India has become the fifth country to develop its own 4G technology.
"In a sector where only four countries used to lead, today India has become the 5th country to build its own complete 4G stack... This is a Rs. 50,000 crore scheme that the Prime Minister has dedicated to the nation today..." added Scindia.
He also stated that, following this launch, approximately two and a half crore users have been able to access the service for long-distance transportation.
"Because of the launch, about two and a half crore users have got the service of long-distance transportation. The first village of Assam, the first village of Arunachal Pradesh, the first village of Jammu and Kashmir, the first village of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the first village of Lakshadweep, the first village of Andaman and Nicobar, each and every service there will be provided by the indigenous stack of our BSNL," said Scindia.
Scindia also declared that even though India was behind the 4G revolution, it will lead the world in 6G.
"As I have always said, we were behind the world in 4G, we marched with the world in 5G, but India will lead the world in 6G. We are going to contribute a minimum of 10% of patents for 6G in the days to come and assist the world in setting the standards for 6G," said Scindia.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated India's fully indigenous 4G stack and one lakh BSNL indigenous 4G towers from Jharsuguda, Odisha.
"India has taken a significant step towards self-reliance", exclaimed PM Modi, recalling that when telecom services like 2G, 3G, and 4G were introduced globally, India lagged behind and remained dependent on foreign technology for these services.
He emphasised that such a situation was not suitable for the country, which led to a national resolve to develop essential telecom technologies indigenously. The Prime Minister expressed pride that BSNL has successfully developed a fully indigenous 4G technology within India. He lauded BSNL's dedication, perseverance, and expertise in creating this milestone. He further highlighted that Indian companies have now positioned India among the select five countries in the world that possess completely indigenous technology to launch 4G services.
The Prime Minister noted the coincidence that BSNL is celebrating its 25th anniversary today. On this historic occasion, he highlighted that through the dedicated efforts of BSNL and its partners, India is advancing towards becoming a global telecom manufacturing hub. He stated that it is a matter of pride for Odisha that BSNL's indigenous 4G network is being launched from Jharsuguda, comprising nearly one lakh 4G towers.
PM Modi emphasised that the expansion of 4G technology will directly benefit over two crore people nationwide. He added that approximately thirty thousand villages, which previously lacked high-speed internet access, will now be connected through this initiative. (ANI)
