Himachal Pradesh: CM Sukhu reviews rehabilitation, relief operation in Kangra

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu visited the Jaisinghpur and Sulah assembly segments of the Kangra district and reviewed the rehabilitation and relief operation followed by the monsoon havoc in the state, an official statement said on Wednesday.

Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 6 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu visited the Jaisinghpur and Sulah assembly segments of the Kangra district and reviewed the rehabilitation and relief operation followed by the monsoon havoc in the state, an official statement said on Wednesday. 

According to the official statement, CM Sukhu also interacted with the disaster-hit families. He visited various villages in both constituencies and assessed the damages caused to public and private property. 
The Chief Minister also interacted with the families in severe landslide-affected Netru and Dehru Kosari villages of Jaisinghpur. He assured the villagers of unwavering support from the State Government.
CM Sukhu also directed the administration to identify suitable land for the families affected by the natural calamity.
He also took stock of the Government Middle School in Chandraun village and ordered for its renovation and announced to upgrade of the school upto 10th class from the next academic session, the official statement said. 

"The Chief Minister reiterated to declare ward-wise areas in worst disaster hit Gram Panchayats as disaster-affected areas which would qualify the affected individuals to receive enhanced compensation', it added. 
Meanwhile, the Himachal Pradesh CM assured the people of all possible help. 
"Earlier, the amount of compensation given for partial damage to pucca house was Rs 12,500 and Rs 10,000 was given for partial damage of kutcha house, which has been enhanced to rupees one lakh now", CM Sukhu said while interacting with the villagers. 
The Chief Minister also visited Bachwain, Parmar Nagar in Sukah and other areas of Sulah assembly and interacted with the disaster-hit families. 
Earlier on Tuesday, CM Sukhu visited the Sujanpur Constituency of Hamirpur district and inspected the damages caused by the unprecedented rains and landslides and took stock of relief and rehabilitation works.
It is worth mentioning that the monsoon caused havoc in the state with multiple landslides, cloudbursts and floods in several places. 
The monsoon also caused an infrastructural loss of over Rs 8,000 crore. 
A total of 397 people lost their lives in rain-related incidents, out of which 143 people have lost their lives due to landslides, flash floods and cloudbursts. As per information, 370 people have been injured while 39 people are still missing, informed the government on Saturday. (ANI)
