Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu felicitates state's Asian Games players

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, felicitated the Kabbadi players of Himachal Pradesh and the gold medalists of the Asian Games on Monday.

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 16 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, honoured Indian Kabbadi players of Himachal Pradesh, both men and women, for winning gold in the recently concluded Asian Games on Monday.
In a felicitation programme organised by the Kabbadi Association of Himachal Pradesh and the Himachal Pradesh government in Shimla, six medalists from Himachal Pradesh were awarded by the Chief Minister. The state government has already announced a reward of Rs 15 lakh each to the gold medalists.

In this programme, the Chief Minister honoured the players who brought glory to the state and the country at the Asian Games. Sukhu said that the government is considering changes in the sports policy of the state.
"Daughter can do a lot on her own; however, if we provide them with more opportunities, then they will do much better. I am also thinking about this, and soon we will take more steps to improve the sports policy," Sukhu said.
"Today, the entire Nation is proud of your performance and the strong Indian squad, which made a record haul of 107 medals, which shows the grit and determination of the Indian players," said Sukhu.
Among the players honoured were the captain of the women's squad of the Indian Kabaddi team, Ritu Negi, and other members Nidhi Sharma, Pushpa Rana, Sushma Sharma, and Vishal Bhardwaj, a team member of the Indian men's Kabaddi team, all from Himachal.
India continued their dominance in Kabaddi at the Asian Games by winning gold in the final in a hard-fought match against Iran at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.
This is the India men's Kabaddi team's eighth gold medal at the Asian Games. India lost to Iran in the semi-final of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. India has won seven gold medals in succession since Kabaddi made its Asian Games debut in Beijing in 1990.
