Chandigarh [India], July 19 (ANI): Union Minister of Power, Manohar Lal Khattar met with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in Chandigarh on Friday. The two leaders had a detailed discussion on several topics, including power, smart cities and many others.
"We had a detailed discussion on several topics like power, smart cities and many others," said Himachal CM Sukhu after the meeting.
"We met with Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar and discussed the topics related to Himachal Pradesh..Let's see what happens," he added.
The meeting was also attended by other ministers of Himachal. CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had recently been on the road meeting the ministers at the centre for discussions on issues faced by his state.
On Wednesday, July 17, he met with Union Minister for Road Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari and urged him to declare 39.20 km of Ranital-Kotla and 41.50 km of Ghumarwin-Jahu-Sarkaghat roads as national highways.
The Chief Minister said that these roads have already been constructed to National Highway standards and have been declared 'in principle National Highway'.
Sukhu also met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on that day and apprised him of the vulnerability of the state to natural disasters and urged for the speedy release of funds pending with the ministry for effective management of disasters. The Chief Minister requested to release Rs 9,042 crore as financial assistance under a post-disaster assessment done by the central team after the state witnessed one of its worst natural disasters during last year's monsoon, triggered by excessive rain resulting in flash floods and landslides.
This is Sukhu's second meeting with Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar this week. Earlier on Tuesday, July 16, both of them met in the national capital to discuss the issues of the state pending with the Central Ministry.
Sukhu sought the intervention of the Union Minister to restore the rights of the Shanan Power Project to the state as the lease period has expired and to take a decision for an amicable solution on the matter, as stated in an official release. (ANI)
