Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 14 (ANI): In the lead-up to the 78th Independence Day, the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla launched a Tiranga Bike Rally to mark the celebrations.
The rally, flagged off by Lieutenant General Dheerendra Singh Kushwah, Chief of Staff at HQ ARTRAC Shimla, featured nearly 60 military and civilian officers, as well as local dignitaries.
The event, aimed at promoting awareness of the Indian Tricolour, will cover approximately 120 km.
Lieutenant General D.S. Kushwah stated, "The Indian Army is celebrating the 78th Independence Day with full vigour. Various programs are being conducted as part of the celebrations. The bike rally will continue for 5 hours. Another initiative, 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,' has also been launched, where Army personnel from all ranks, including their family members, have planted saplings."
As the nation commemorates the 78th Independence Day, various programs are being held across the country to honour those who sacrificed their lives for India's freedom.
In Shimla, the Army Training Command organised the Tiranga Yatra, which began at Annadale Ground. The rally is set to cover 120 km to Chail over five hours, with the goal of fostering patriotism and paying tribute to freedom fighters.
Lieutenant General D.S. Kushwah emphasised the Army's enthusiasm for the Independence Day celebrations, noting that the Tiranga Yatra is just one of many activities planned nationwide. Additionally, ARTRAC Shimla has actively participated in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, with Army families contributing to environmental protection by planting saplings.
The 'Tiranga Yatra' is part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan' launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at instilling a sense of nationalism by encouraging citizens to display the National Flag at their homes.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan' in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he remarked that the campaign is not just a display of patriotism but also a resolution to build a developed India by 2047.
"The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign initiated by PM Modi is not merely an expression of patriotism; it is a resolution to create a Viksit Bharat by 2047. As we enter the 78th year of Independence on August 15, let's ensure that every house, building, office, and vehicle proudly displays the Tricolour," Shah said.
In the 112th 'Mann Ki Baat' on July 28, Prime Minister Modi urged all Indians to participate in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign to celebrate Independence Day.
'Har Ghar Tiranga' is a campaign that is part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, launched in 2021 to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it in celebration of India's 75th year of independence. The initiative aims to evoke a sense of patriotism in the hearts of the people and promote awareness of the Indian National Flag. (ANI)
