Himachal Pradesh: Amid snowfall, schools to re-open on Feb 18

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], Feb 12 (ANI): Due to heavy snowfall, the schools in various parts of Himachal Pradesh which were scheduled to re-open on February 13, will now start functioning from February 18.

Snowfall in Solang Valley

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], Feb 12 (ANI): Due to heavy snowfall, the schools in various parts of Himachal Pradesh which were scheduled to re-open on February 13, will now start functioning from February 18.

“Schools that were scheduled to open on February 13 after being closed in the light of heavy rains/snowfall in the region, will now start functioning from February 18,” District Administration Kullu told ANI.

Following the heavy snow and rainfall in the region, the district administrations of Kullu, Mandi, Chamba and Shimla on Sunday declared two days holiday for primary and senior secondary schools.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from February 13.

The IMD also forecast heavy rain, snow or thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorm at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, snow-clearing operations are being carried out in both states. (ANI)
