Himachal polls: BJP Media Cell Chief confident about Congress' debacle

New Delhi [India], November 9 (ANI): Anil Baluni, BJP Media Cell Chief, on Thursday expressed confidence about the party sweeping the Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls with 60 out of 68 seats.

Speaking to ANI, Baluni further said the Congress would face debacle in the polls.

"People in Himachal Pradesh are saying that out of 68 assembly constituencies, the BJP will win 60 seats and the Congress will win the remaining eight, which means it will go down to single digits," he said.

Himachal Pradesh assembly elections have recorded the highest ever 74 per cent voter turnout till 5 p.m.

The voting was conducted in 68 assembly constituencies of Himachal Pradesh in a single phase to choose the next chief minister of the state.

A total of 337 candidates, including 19 women, are in fray to sweep the polls in the hilly state.

Incumbent Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal were among the 62 sitting MLAs who contested the polls.

The counting of votes will take place on December 18. (ANI)
