Himachal CM visits landslide-hit areas in Hamirpur, directs admin to accelerate relief, restoration works

Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 29 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took stock of landslide-hit areas of Bhoranj in Hamirpur district on Monday. 
While interacting with the media persons at Kanjian helipad in Hamirpur, he said that despite financial constraint, the State government won't let affected families suffer and would extend all possible assistance to them.
The Chief Minister was on visit to Bhoranj assembly segment to review the relief operations and take stock of the situation in the villages affected by disaster, triggered by rains and landslides.
Issuing necessary directions to the district administration to accelerate the relief and restoration works, Sukhu shared the grief of the people who have been rendered homeless and have suffered massive loss due to the monsoon fury.
He said that the NITI Aayog and even the World Bank have appreciated the efforts of the State government in mitigating the disaster and effectively carrying out relief and rescue operations efficiently.
As of now, the priority of the Government is to provide immediate relief and provide financial assistance for reconstruction of the houses which were wholly or partially damaged. We won't let the financial crisis overcome the efforts to rehabilitate the affected, he remarked.
In the ensuing Vidhan Sabha session to commence on September 18, we will discuss the post-disaster effects and the steps taken to restore normalcy thereafter, he said.
Office bearers of the Senior Citizen Council presented a cheque of Rs. 21 lakh, while students of Career Point University, Bhoranj, presented a cheque of rupees three lakh towards the Aapada Rahat Kosh, to the Chief Minister.
MLA, Suresh Kumar, Ashish Sharma, Chairman, Kangra Central Cooperative Bank, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Chairman, Agriculture and Rural Development bank, Ram Chander Pathania, Coordinator HP, Kaushal Vikas Nigam, Atul Karohta, were also present on the occasion amongst others. (ANI)
