Himachal CM Sukhu flags off four Garbage Compactors for Shimla civic body on Gandhi Jayanti 

According to a press release, these compactor units, acquired under the Shimla Smart City Limited project, represent a significant investment of Rs 1.40 Crores. Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 2 (ANI): On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off four Garbage Compactors for the Shimla Municipal Corporation at Chaura Maidan in Shimla.
According to a press release, these compactor units, acquired under the Shimla Smart City Limited project, represent a significant investment of Rs 1.40 crores.
Each compactor boasts a capacity of 14 Cubic Meters, allowing them to efficiently transport 11-12 tonnes of waste to the Bhariyal waste processing plant on the outskirts of Shimla, reducing transportation costs and improving waste management.
Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the importance of cleanliness, echoing the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to realizing Gandhi's vision of a cleaner, more sustainable Shimla.
With these new Garbage Compactors, the Shimla Municipal Corporation takes a significant step toward improving waste management, aligning with the city's goal of a cleaner and greener future.
Sukhu noted that Shimla is the state's primary tourist destination, and the government is actively working to attract more visitors while enhancing essential infrastructure for their comfort and convenience.
Hygiene and various amenities for tourists are a top priority, ensuring that the city provides a memorable experience for all.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthy, MLA Harish Janartha, Mayor Surinder Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, and other dignitaries joined Chief Minister Sukhu in marking this important milestone in Shimla's ongoing journey towards improved waste management and a more environmentally friendly future.
