Himachal CM Sukhu directs Civil Supplies Corporation to ensure disaster-affected families get free ration, LPG connections

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 8 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Civil Supplies Corporation to ensure disaster-affected families get free ration and free LPG connections, said a government release on Sunday.
CM Sukhu chaired the 173rd meeting of the Board of Directors of State Civil Supplies Corporation in Shimla on Saturday evening.
The state government has launched a scheme for providing free LPG connections and free ration to disaster-affected families, said CM Sukhu while chairing the meeting.
He stated that eligible beneficiaries have already started receiving the benefits under the scheme and directed the Food and Civil Supplies officers to monitor the effective implementation of the scheme ensuring that the affected people get their due rights.
The Chief Minister said that the affected families were being provided with an LPG Cylinder, pressure regulator, hot plate and 'Suraksha' pipe. The State Government was covering all associated expenses, including the cost of LPG domestic refill and the Blue books, he added.
"To ensure that the affected families have access to nutritious food, the state government is providing a free ration that includes 20 kg wheat atta, 15 kg rice, 3 kg pulses, one-litre mustard oil, one-litre soya refined oil, one kg double fortified salt and two kg sugar. The free ration aid will be provided until March 31, 2024," the Chief Minister said in the meeting.
CM Sukhu highlighted that the State Civil Supplies Corporation did a business of Rs 1955 crore in the 2022-23 fiscal and its net profit stood at Rs 87 lakh.
Chief Minister lauded the Corporation for establishing itself as trustworthy and a dealer of quality products. He directed to make the Corporation a fully digitalized, commercial and professional entity.
He further said that for procuring FMCG products, the Corporation should sign MoUs with leading companies like Godrej and Bajaj so that consumers get quality at the cheapest rates.
CM Sukhu also asked the Corporation to open 52 new Fair Price Medicine Shops in various government health institutions across the State to facilitate patients by offering them medicines and other surgical equipment at reasonable rates.
Non-official directors of the Corporation, Principal Secretary to Food and Civil Supplies RD Nazeem, Principal Secretary to Finance Maneesh Garg, Secretary of Health M Sudha Devi, Managing Director of State Civil Supplies Corporation Rajeshwar Goel, Registrar of Cooperative Societies Sandeep Kadam, Executive Director of State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Sachin Kanwal and other senior officers were also present at the meeting.
