"Highly condemnable": Amritsar MP Aujla slams attack on Sukhbir Badal

New Delhi [India], December 4 (ANI): Congress leader Gurjeet Singh Aujla, who is MP from Amritsar, on Wednesday strongly condemned the attack on former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
"This is highly condemnable and wrong. This should not have happened...it is the premises of Darbar Sahib. Nobody has the right to take law into their hand. The incident happening there is absolutely wrong," Aujla said.
There was an attempt on the life of Badal on Wednesday in Golden Temple premises in Amritsar where he was performing penance under the religious punishment pronounced by Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The attacker, identified as Narain Singh Chaura, was immediately nabbed by the police. Sukhbir Badal was not hurt.
The Shiromani Akali Dal leader was sitting at the entrance of the Golden Temple with a plaque card around his neck as part of the 'tankhah' (religious punishment) pronounced by the high priests at Akal Takht for "religious misconduct".
Badal was declared a 'tankhaiya' (guilty of religious misconduct) in August by Akal Takht, which announced religious punishment on Monday. (ANI)
