Higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh receive snowfall, rain

"During the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall has been recorded in Himachal Pradesh due to the active Western disturbance. Lahaul-Spiti district received fresh snowfall. Kothi received 28 mm rainfall and Tisa recorded 21 mm rain Gondla recorded 8CM snowfall Hansa recorded 2 cm and Keylong recorded 1 cm fresh snowfall," said Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Senior scientist IMD, Himachal Pradesh.

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], April 27 (ANI): Higher reaches in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday received snowfall and rain.
"During the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall has been recorded in Himachal Pradesh due to the active Western disturbance. Lahaul-Spiti district received fresh snowfall. Kothi received 28 mm rainfall and Tisa recorded 21 mm rain Gondla recorded 8CM snowfall Hansa recorded 2 cm and Keylong recorded 1 cm fresh snowfall," said Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Senior Scientist IMD, Himachal Pradesh.
However, for many tourists visiting Shimla hill station, the fresh snowfall was a visual treat.
"It is a wonderful feeling; I am excited to be here. The weather is wonderful. I am happy to be here. I am able to enjoy the beauty of Shimla amid the snowfall," said Ajay Kumar Jha, a tourist from Delhi.
Sharma said that thunderstorm events have been recorded in Mid-hill areas of the state.
"During the next 5-6 days the Western disturbance will affect the state. The higher reaches will get light to moderate rain and snowfall. Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Chamba will get light to moderate snowfall. Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Shimla will get rain and thunderstorms and in Chamba, Mandi, Kullu and Shimla the hailstorm is happening and it is continuing in Narkanda area of Shimla district," he said.
"The Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti and Kangra will have heavy rainfall today. The rain will stop after April 30 and the weather will be clear after May 1. We have issued an orange alert for three days of 27, 28 and 29th April in the entire state,"he added. (ANI)
