"High time Chinese recognise danger of terrorism": West Asia expert Waiel Awwad

"It's high time that the Chinese realise and recognise the danger of terrorism, especially in their neighbouring countries like India. The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) had already issued a statement long before the attack took place in India, and that's a clear indication that it's only through collective measures that the countries can fight terrorism together. This is a very positive point from the Chinese point of view. It is also a clear indication that China, Russia, and India are coming together, because if the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation takes the lead, terrorism should be fought collectively in this part of the world," Awwad told ANI.

New Delhi [India], July 19 (ANI): After Beijing condemned the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack, West Asia expert Waiel Awwad on Saturday said that it was crucial that China recognises the danger of terrorism in neighbouring countries, since it is only through collective measures that the fight against terrorism can be fought.
Welcoming China's move to condemn the terrorist attack, Awwad pointed out to the possibility of China, Russia and India coming together to combat terrorism in this part of the world. He said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) had already issued a statement against terrorism, hinting towards collective action.

After the United States designated The Resistance Front (TRF) as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO), China has condemned the April 22 Pahalgam attack, calling for greater regional cooperation to counter terrorism and ensure stability.
China's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian lauded the effort of the US in helping combat terrorist activities.
When asked about the US State Department's effort by designating The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation and Specially Designated Global Terrorist Organisation, Lin said that China condemns all forms of terrorism.
"China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism and strongly condemns the terrorist attack that occurred on April 22. China calls on regional countries to enhance counterterrorism cooperation and jointly maintain regional security and stability," he said.
The US Department of State on Thursday (local time) designated The Resistance Front (TRF). In a statement issued by the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, the statement acknowledged the fact that the organisation claimed responsibility for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
