New Delhi (India), September 8 (ANI): Ahead of the G20 Summit, Minister of State MEA Meenakashi Lekhi, gave an update on the schedule planned for the spouses of the global leaders. She said that India would be showcasing its rich heritage and its scientific expertise to the spouses during their stay in Delhi.
Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi said, "On 9th Sept, they (Spouses of G 20 leaders) will visit the G20 Summit. They will meet women farmers and will also see some of the top laboratories...Their first experience will be about millet, which is our traditional diet...In the second half, there will be an exhibition called 'Roots to Roots' where we will showcase the oldest chariot in the world..."
MEA Meenakashi Lekhi said that very few people knew about India's agricultural potential.
"Our country was deficient in food production and now we have reached from low to surplus food production. People need to know that aspect of science also. The first experience will be about millets. India has been eating millets for a few thousand years. Then we would be showcasing our heritage and the scientific part."
Meenakashi Lekhi further said that the second part of the day for the spouses of Global leaders was going to be about an exhibition called 'Roots to Roots.'
"We are going to showcase the oldest chariot in the world which we have excavated from Sinauli. We have a collection of lithographs which is about our ancient musical instruments. This becomes relevant because when President Draupadi Murmu hosts a dinner for all the Heads of State, we would also have a three-hour performance of all our ancient musical instruments from the traditional Indian music system Hindustani and Carnatic. You will see an ensemble of a sort," she added.
"Within a short span, we have tried to showcase the rich heritage of our country and we have tried our best," she added. (ANI)
