"Her bravery, efforts in fight for freedom continue to inspire generations": PM Modi pays tribute to Rani Laxmibai

Rani Laxmibai was one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857. She died fighting British colonial rulers near Gwalior in a place known as Kotah-ki-Serai in 1858.

New Delhi [India], November 19 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Lakshmibai Newalkar, the Rani of Jhansi, on her birth anniversary on Tuesday.
In a post on X, PM Modi emphasized that her bravery and efforts will continue to inspire generations.
"Tributes to the fearless Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, a true embodiment of courage and patriotism, on her Jayanti. Her bravery and efforts in the fight for freedom continue to inspire generations. Her leadership during times of adversity showed what true determination is," the Prime Minister said.
Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid his tribute on X and said that Laxmibai was an "epitome of unmatched heroism and valour".
"Tribute to the great warrior queen, Rani of Jhansi, Laxmibai ji on her birth anniversary, who fought against the British rule with her indomitable courage and bravery in the First Indian War of Independence of 1857. She was the epitome of unmatched heroism and valour. The dedication, generosity, patriotism and sacrifice of such great personalities are inspiring," Kharge said.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also saluted Rani Laxmibai, the epitome of unparalleled courage and valour.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai took to X and said, "Tribute to the heroine of the Indian freedom struggle, Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi on her birth anniversary."
BJP leader and former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that Rani Laxmibai has inspired many generations and will continue to do so.
"On her birth anniversary, we celebrate Rani Laxmi Bai, a fearless warrior who fought for freedom and honour with valour and determination. She has inspired and continues to inspire many generations of Indians," he said on X.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala while paying tribute said, "Respectful salutations on the birth anniversary of Rani Lakshmibai, the great heroine of the first freedom struggle and the epitome of indomitable courage. She sacrificed her life for the freedom of the country. Her sacrifice will always inspire the coming generations."
Rani Laxmibai, popularly known as Queen of Jhansi, played an important role during India's first war of independence (1857-58).
She was one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, and was born on November 19, 1828.
