Palampur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 26 (ANI): NK Kalia, father of Kargil martyr Captain Saurabh Kalia, has congratulated the soldiers on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
"First of all, I would like to pay my heartiest respect to all the soldiers. It is because of these brave soldiers that we are safe and sound in the country and enjoy almost everything. Had they not been there at the borders or elsewhere, our life would have been different all together. I would like to congratulate our soldiers for bringing home the victory in Kargil War despite all odds," NK Kalia told ANI.
Saurabh Kalia and his five other soldiers were killed and mutilated during the battle with the Pakistan army. NK Kalia has been seeking justice for his son from past 19 years.
NK Kalia moved to the Supreme Court in 2014 to 'fight for the dignity and honour of armed forces.'
"We had to move to the Supreme Court for this. We understand this is an issue between the two nations and unless External Affairs Ministry take up this issue with Pakistan or at the international level I am afraid any action impossible," said Kalia, whose son lost his life in Pakistani captivity.
NK Kalia was assured justice by both former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and his successor Narendra Modi, but nothing has happened in the issue so far.
"I was promised by the then prime minister of India, defense minister and external affairs minister that this issue will be taken with Pakistan as well as at the international forum but all these years it never appeared that any concrete or solid action has been taken on the part of the Indian government," added Kalia.
Kalia further said that he is determined to fight for the same as long as he is alive. (ANI)
