Raichur (Karnataka) [India], May 3 (ANI): Former Chief Minister and JD(S) State President HD Kumaraswamy has demanded that Special Investigation Team (SIT) notice should be issued immediately to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who has publicly stated that MP Prajwal Revanna had raped 400 women.
Rahul Gandhi has given the information along with the figures to claim this.
Kumarswamy spoke to the media before campaigning on behalf of the NDA candidate in Sindhanur of Raichur district and expressed his anger against Rahul Gandhi.
"Is this the son of the former Prime Minister of the country? So it turned out that he has all the information. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah must have informed him or Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar must have told him, if not he must have been informed by the Home Minister. Rahul Gandhi should be given immediate notice if the investigation team is responsible," Kumaraswamy demanded that an inquiry should be called.
"Rahul Gandhi has also said in front of the media that Prajwal Revanna has raped 400 women and has also said in an open meeting. Call and inquire," the former chief minister urged the probe team to come out with the truth.
"He (Rahul Gandhi) said Narendra Modi should have come and apologised to him. Why didn't someone who already knew the information couldn't give it? It should have been given to the prime minister earlier. Why didn't you give it? Why didn't their CM and DCM tell? Are you campaigning for the election by sitting next to your Bagalkote HY Methi (over his alleged video) You had all the stuff, didn't you? Why did you wait till April 21? Where will this case go after the polls are over on May 7? All you want is polling on the 7th and misleading people for political gain," Kumaraswamy lashed out against the CM and DCM.
Karnataka Police have filed a second first information report (FIR) against former state minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader, HD Revanna, in connection with the 'obscene video' case.
The FIR has been filed at the K R Nagar police station in Mysuru and a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376(2)(N), 506, 354A(1), 354(B), 354(c) and also under relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act has been registered against the JD(S) leader.
The FIR was registered hours before the anticipatory bail plea of HD Revanna came up for hearing in the Special Court for People's Representatives in Bengaluru today.
The Holenarsipura MLA has sought anticipatory bail in the case in which he was earlier booked for sexual harassment based on the complaint of his former house help.
He skipped the summons to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 2 for questioning.
Revanna and his son, Prajwal Revanna, who is the sitting MP and candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, are facing a probe by a Special Investigative Team (SIT), constituted by the Karnataka government police over allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a woman, who worked in their household.
Revanna was booked in an alleged sexual harassment case on April 28 based on a complaint lodged at Holenarasipura Town police.
The case was registered under sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 of the IPC on charges of sexual harassment, intimidation, and outraging the dignity of a woman. As per the complaint, the victim claimed that Prajwal Revanna and his father HD Revanna had sexually assaulted her.
Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of party supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.
The Karnataka government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged obscene video case against Prajwal Revanna. (ANI)
