Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Sehore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Oct 4 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday asked the officials in the state government to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50.
"I have asked the officials in the Madhya Pradesh government to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50. Petrol and Diesel will be sold Rs 5 less than its current price in Madhya Pradesh now," Chouhan said.
Chouhan's statement comes after Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley earlier in the day announced a cut of Rs 2.50 per litre on both petrol and diesel prices and directed the state governments to implement the same.
"Excise duty to be reduced by Rs 1.50 and Oil Marketing Companies will absorb one rupee. So, a total of Rs.2.50 will be reduced on both diesel and petrol," Jaitley said.
Besides Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Goa and Jharkhand governments have implemented the direction and also decided to give an additional relief of Rs. 2.50 per litre on petrol and diesel, making the fuels cheaper by five rupees each in the states.
