Gurugram (Haryana) [India], July 7 (ANI): Haryana Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad on Sunday emphasized the state government's commitment to maintaining cleanliness and efficient drainage systems in Gurugram city, keeping citizens' interests in mind.
In a meeting with the city's prominent citizens, he directed officials to formulate new plans based on the suggestions received.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Gurugram Division, Mr. RC Bidhan, and other district administration officials
In the meeting, Prasad announced the formation of a three-member committee to establish standards for door-to-door garbage collection vehicles.
Following this, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will issue a public advertisement. Any agency, RWA, organisation, or individual can provide vehicles meeting the prescribed standards, including a driver, for door-to-door garbage collection.
These vehicles must be equipped with GPS to track their location, with the information accessible to the public. The vehicles must operate for a minimum of three years, and the number of such vehicles in Gurugram should reach up to one thousand. Payments to providers will be made monthly as per the rates set by the committee.
The Chief Secretary also addressed the issue of waterlogging during the rainy season, reviewing the arrangements and drainage cleaning efforts.
Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav reported the identification of 112 critical waterlogging points, with IAS, HCS, and other senior officials assigned for monitoring.
MCG Commissioner Narhari Bangar stated that the GMDA and MCG utilise four major drains and about 600 kilometres of smaller drains for drainage.
The tenders for cleaning these drains have been issued, and work is underway. Prasad directed that an SDO or other officer be assigned to every 10-20 kilometers to report on the cleaning progress daily. Action will be taken against any agency neglecting its duties.
Additionally, Prasad instructed to advance the purchase of 40 compactors and suction machines (Jatayu) for MCG. He also directed the cleanliness and environmental experts present to prepare a plan for improving the Bandhwari waste disposal plant.
He assured citizens that he would continue to hold weekly meetings, both online and offline, to address their concerns. (ANI)
