Haryana government announces Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia to martyr’s kin, government job

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], Mar 1 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Friday said the sacrifice made by Sergeant Vikrant Sherawat for the country would always be remembered, and announced to provide ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to the martyr’s family and a government job to one of his family members.

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], Mar 1 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Friday said the sacrifice made by Sergeant Vikrant Sherawat for the country would always be remembered, and announced to provide ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to the martyr’s family and a government job to one of his family members.
Manohar said this while interacting with the media persons after the cremation of Sergeant Vikrant Sherawat at Bhadani village in district Jhajjar on Friday. “It is our responsibility to take care of the martyrs’ families,” said Chief Minister Lal.
Earlier, Chief Minister Lal, Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu, and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister OP Dhankar paid rich tributes to martyr Sergeant Vikrant Sherawat by laying a wreath on his mortal remains. They also took part in the funeral procession of the martyr.
Sergeant Sherawat attained martyrdom in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday. His body was airlifted to the Civil Hospital, Jhajjar late last evening by a special unit of the Indian Air Force from where his mortal remains were brought to his residence in Bhadani on Friday morning.
On way to his residence, a large number of youths on motorcycles paid tributes to the martyr by showering flowers at different places.
Chief Minister Lal visited the residence of martyr Vikrant and expressed condolences to the martyr’s father Krishan Kumar, mother Kanta Devi, and wife Suman and said that the nation would always remain indebted to the sacrifice made by Sergeant Sherawat.
“We are proud of such a brave son and his (Vikrant) sacrifice would be a source of inspiration for the youth,” an official statement quoted Chief Minister Lal, as saying.
Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister OP Dhankar said that whatever proposal the gram Panchayat Bhadani pass in the memory of martyr Vikrant would be got executed at the earliest.
The cremation of the Sergeant Vikrant Sherawat was performed with full state honour. The contingent of the Indian Air Force and the Haryana Police gave the salute to the martyr. (ANI)
