Haryana Budge Session: Governor Arya reiterates government’s resolve for affordable, quality health services

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], Feb 20 (ANI): Haryana Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya on Wednesday reiterated the resolve of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar led BJP government to “provide affordable, accessible, equitable and quality healthcare services to the people of the state.
“To ensure this, special emphasis is being given to improving the quality of health services in health institutions,” said he, while addressing the Haryana Vidhan Sabha on the opening day of the Budget Session here.
He said that the state government is committed to providing nutritional and health benefits to the poorest of the poor. “Haryana has become the first to implement the ambitious scheme of ‘Ayushmaan Bharat,’ which provides for medical benefits up to Rs 5 lakh to the poor families,” he said.
“Over 5 lakh citizens have been registered under this scheme and 357 hospitals have been empanelled and claims of an amount of about Rs 7 crore has been paid till now,” he further informed.
He said that the Quality Assurance Programme is being implemented under which 32 health facilities have been nationally certified as per National Quality Assurance Standards.  He said that Haryana has become the first State in the country to get Urban Primary Health Centre at Krishnanagar Gamri, Kurukshetra, nationally certified.
The Governor said that district Civil Hospital, Rohtak, has achieved the distinction of getting maximum 96 per cent score in national certification and was honoured during 12th national quality conclave held at Kaziranga, Assam). “The Kayakalp Programme has been expanded to 332 health facilities under which 21 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) achieved the first rank,” he said.
Arya said the high-risk pregnancy management policy devised and implemented by the National Health Mission (NHM), Haryana, has been appreciated by the Government of India and has been selected as the best practice for presentation in NITI Ayog’s conference of 115 backward districts.
He said that maternal health indicators have also improved significantly in the state. As per the latest Maternal Mortality Ratio Bulletin released in May 2018, Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) of Haryana has reduced remarkably by 26 points to 101 as per the (Sample Registration System (SRS) 2014-16).
He said that as per (SRS - 2017), Haryana has brought down its Under-5 mortality from 43 to 37 per thousand live births which is a 6 points dip. “Apart from this, the state has also brought down its Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) by three points from 36 to 33 per thousand live births as well as neonatal mortality rate from 24 to 22 per thousand live births,” he said.
