Guwahati celebrates festivities of Kali Puja and Diwali

Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 29 (ANI): With the festival of lights approaching, the people of Guwahati on Monday have been celebrating the festivities of Kali Puja and Diwali.
The Vivekananda Sporting Club of the Colony Bazar area here celebrated their Diamond Jubilee, Diwali and Kali Puja.
Amongst the celebrations, the unique pandal of Kali Puja, showcasing the replica of Wat Arun Temple of Thailand was the pandal theme and became a major attraction among the people.

Sashanka Chakraborty, Vivekananda Sporting Club office bearer said that the budget was around Rs 35 lakh.
Speaking to ANI, Chakraborty said "This year we are trying to show the replica of Wat Arun Temple of Thailand as our pandal theme. This year's budget is around Rs 35 lakh. We have a 3-day programme to celebrate Kali Puja and Diwali which will start from October 31. We will also distribute blankets among the poor people and we have a blood donation programme also. We are expecting thousands of people will come here and will celebrate Kali Puja and Diwali festival."
On the other hand, the busy marketplace in the Fancy Bazar area has been decked up with different colours of lights, and firecrackers.
People have thronged to the markets to buy lights, and firecrackers to celebrate the Diwali festival.
A firecracker seller said that the sale of the crackers had increased this year.
"This year the price of firecrackers has increased a little bit more compared to the previous year. But people are coming to buy firecrackers to celebrate Diwali," the trader said.
Traders also showcased different types of firecrackers in their stalls to attract customers.
Diwali is one of the most significant festivals in India and around the world. This vibrant festival, known as the Festival of Lights, signifies the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. As families prepare for the festivities, homes will be adorned with colourful rangoli patterns, illuminated with diyas and fairy lights.(ANI)
