Gurugram (Haryana) [India], Oct 14 (ANI): The police on Sunday said that they are yet to ascertain the motive behind the shooting of an additional session court judge's wife and son in Gurugram on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) East Gurugram, Sulochana Gajraj said, "We will seek his (gunman Mahipal) remand to question him further. It is still not clear why he shot the wife and son of additional Sessions Court judge yesterday. The investigation is underway."
Gajraj added that the accused said he was under stress since the last few days and was not able to sleep, but did not give any exact or specific reason for anything. The police did not find any medical history, nor was he under any medication.
"Nothing happened that could have triggered sudden aggression, but we have to find out what was going on in his mind. It shall also be taken into consideration that he was staying with the family for 1.5 years, had there been a severe issue why would he continue to stay with the family?" added the DCP
Refuting the reports of the firing taking place in the police station, Gajraj said, "He fired five rounds of the revolver, no firing took in the police station."
The police also did not find any complaints of misconduct against the accused and have not contacted Mahipal's family as yet.
Reacting to the reports of religious conversion of the accused, she said, "He said that he is a Hindu but he believes in every religion."
On the afternoon of October 13, the personal security officer of Additional Session Court judge Krishan Kant shot his wife and son in Sector 49, Gurugram. The wife succumbed to her injuries earlier this morning.
Officials from Medanta Hospital where Kant's wife and son were admitted said the woman died due to excessive bleeding from the bullet wound. "A team of three doctors conducted her post-mortem," the official added. (ANI)
