Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], December 3 (ANI): The Gujarat state government has organised the Ravi Krishi Mahotsav-2024 on December 6 and 7 to familiarise farmers with modern agricultural methods, technologies, and innovative practices. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel will inaugurate the statewide event at Dantiwada Agricultural University in Banaskantha district, according to a press release from the Chief Minister's Office.
Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel outlined that taluka-level Ravi Krishi Mahotsav programmes will be held at 246 taluka centres across Gujarat on December 6 and 7. District-level events will be inaugurated by ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and other dignitaries. More than 2.5 lakh farmers are expected to participate across the state.
The Minister noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Krishi Mahotsav in 2005 to facilitate direct interaction between farmers, agricultural scientists, and experts. This initiative aims to address farmers' challenges, provide guidance, introduce advanced farming techniques, and enable research tailored to farmers' needs. Continuing this legacy, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has planned the Ravi Krishi Mahotsav-2024 to promote comprehensive development in the agricultural sector.
He highlighted that the Krishi Mahotsav embodies the Prime Minister's 'Lab to Land' vision. The event bridges the gap between farmers and agricultural experts, enabling scientists to address real-world challenges and adapt their research accordingly. Since its inception under the Prime Minister's visionary leadership, the Krishi Mahotsav has played a pivotal role in increasing farmers' incomes in Gujarat. The Minister encouraged farmers to actively participate in the upcoming Ravi Krishi Mahotsav to maximise its benefits.
Detailing the two-day event, the Minister said it will feature technical guidance seminars, demonstrations on natural farming, exhibitions of modern agricultural technologies, visits to natural farming model farms, and Pashu Arogya Camps (animal health camps). Progressive farmers will be honoured with the Sardar Patel Krushi Sanshodhan Puraskar and the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Best Farmer Award.
Experts from agricultural universities will provide insights on various topics, including natural and sustainable farming, value addition in agricultural and horticultural crops, mixed farming practices, precision farming, modern agricultural techniques, millet crop value addition, and effective animal husbandry methods. Area-specific crop guidance sessions will also be held, and farmers' queries will be addressed throughout the event. According to the Minister, the Mahotsav aims to establish Gujarat as a leader in the agricultural sector through meaningful discussions and initiatives. (ANI)
