Gujarat: Heavy rains cause ponds to overflow in Panchmahal

Light to moderate rains and snowfall were recorded at several places across Himachal Pradesh over the past 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for thunderstorms, gusty winds, and dense fog at isolated locations, particularly in the low hills and plains.

Vikramaditya Singh informed that the policy was prepared after a detailed technical assessment by the department and has been approved for placement before the forthcoming Cabinet meeting for final endorsement.

Due to heavy rainfall a few months ago, rainwater flowing from the urban areas of Thoothukudi passed through the salt pans in the Kala vasal region and drained into the sea. However, the rainwater has not fully receded even now and remains stagnant in the salt pans, making it impossible to resume salt production. Devastating visuals of waterlogging across several areas of the district highlight the downsides of the rains and underscore the difficulties they cause for locals.

A fire broke out after two trucks collided head-on near Dr Na Muvada village on the Godhra-Ahmedabad National Highway in Gujarat early Friday morning.
